Lupin, Jigen, and Goemon are preparing sukiyaki in their camper.
LUPIN
Smells delicious!
Too bad Fujiko isn't here to join us.
We'll start without her.
JIGEN
Too bad she made us come all the way here and broke her promise.
GOEMON
So, what else is new?
LUPIN
Ah, it's well done!
(Jigen hands him a beer)
Nice and cold!
Jigen pours some beer into the sukiyaki.
LUPIN
Hey, cut it out!
JIGEN
It improves the taste.
LUPIN
Not for me!
JIGEN
Let's have some beef. . .
LUPIN
Hey, that's mine!
They fight over some of the beef.
Then Goemon removes a huge slice.
LUPIN
(To Goemon)
Don't eat the beef!
What kind of Japanese are you?
(Fujiko rushes into the camper with an Uzi,
and jumps out the other side)
LUPIN
Fujiko, what's going on?
Machine gun fire, followed by grenades tossed into the camper.
The three leap out before it explodes.
Fujiko roars past in Lupin's Mercedes SSK.
Another car chases her.
They toss a grenade at Lupin, who kicks it aside.
LUPIN
What the hell is she doing?
She ruined our sukiyaki!
JIGEN
(Observes explosion down the road)
And our car.
LUPIN
Shit!
JIGEN
(Picks object out of sukiyaki)
Did you intend to eat this?
LUPIN
A present from Fujiko. . .?
In room somewhere, Fujiko is being strip-searched.
GOON
Shit, where'd you hide it?
Now I'll have to search her body!
MAN BEHIND DESK
Wait, I know where it is.
You made a lot of trouble, and I don't want any of this to go public.
Now the next move is Lupin's.
(He laughs)
Title: ``Albatross: The Wings of Death''
A SHIP'S CABIN
JIGEN
Did you find out what her little present is?
LUPIN
Just about. . .
This is finely made, for an atomic bomb. . .
JIGEN
What?
Radiation and garlic don't mix for me!
LUPIN
Don't worry. . .
this is just its detonator.
But its size, that's what scares me. . .
It's very hard to make A-bombs that small.
LUPIN
Armed with this device, even you, Jigen, could make a miniature A-bomb.
GOEMON
Black-market made.
LUPIN
Yeah, that's an important point.
JIGEN
Are there any laws about A-Bombs in the first place?
LUPIN
Somebody wanted to sell this on the black market. . .
then, Fujiko must have intercepted it.
JIGEN
A miniature A-bomb. . .
there are all kinds of terrorists who would want one.
Forget hijacking a plane. . .
you could hijack a city!
GOEMON
Horrible to think about.
LUPIN
Jigen, is there any facility around here that no one would suspect,
even if they're actually assembling atom bombs?
JIGEN
Well, around here, it's mostly quiet vacation spots. . .
the airport, this museum. . .
that's about it.
LUPIN
Air Museum. . .
The Lonebach Air Museum, eh?
A plane arrives at the Lonebach Air Museum.
Detective Zenigata of Interpol steps out.
ZENIGATA
Dr. Lonebach?
I'm Detective Zenigata.
LONEBACH
I've been expecting you. . .
I understand Lupin has targeted our museum?
ZENIGATA
I'm certain of it.
Knowing Lupin, he might have already struck.
LONEBACH
But, all we have here is our classic plane collection.
What would he want with it?
ZENIGATA
Finding that out is my business.
(He looks inside the hangar window)
What a huge flying boat!
LONEBACH
This is the Albatross, built 50 years ago.
This way. . .
ZENIGATA
This is just its front nose!
Inside the Albatross
ZENIGATA
It looks so beautiful. . .
Hard to believe this was built 50 years ago.
LONEBACH
We have almost completed its reconstruction.
Our museum's policy is to restore all of our classic planes
back to operating condition.
ZENIGATA
So it can fly. . .
It must be able to carry a huge payload. . .
such as an atomic bomb.
LONEBACH
An atom bomb. . .
(He laughs)
Let's stop this game.
How much do you know, Mr.Lupin?
LUPIN
(With Zenigata's voice)
We have clear evidence. . .
(Now in his own)
Surrender now!
Two men burst in with guns.
LONEBACH
It's all right, Schmidt.
Let's continue our conversation. . .
LUPIN
(Brings out detonator)
I'll bet you're really interested in this.
LONEBACH
Ah, you returned it for me!
LUPIN
This one's fake.
The real one is hidden somewhere. . .
LONEBACH
I understand. . .
well, take a look at what I've got.
Lonebach reveals a chained Fujiko
LUPIN
Wow, Fujiko!
Only a few more bits of clothing to go!
(To Lonebach)
What a great hobby you've got. . .
(Fujiko throws an ashtray in his face)
LONEBACH
Will you trade for this lady?
(The ashtray falls from Lupin's face)
So, it's a deal?
LUPIN
Fujiko's hardly a bargain trade!
LONEBACH
Ah, but you really love her.
LUPIN
No, I'm irritated by her chasing me all the time!
LONEBACH
Then, we'll meet on the lake tomorrow morning.
Sound of police sirens from below
LUPIN
Zenigata!
LONEBACH
Oh, excuse me.
I forgot to tell you I called the real one.
LUPIN
What?
The chair tips backwards, spilling Lupin onto the tarmac.
ZENIGATA
Lupin!
LUPIN
Fire it up, Jigen!
JIGEN
Hurry!
ZENIGATA
Shit !
Lonebach laughs.
In a room on the Albatross, Fujiko is trying to pick her shackles
LONEBACH
You're not going to have any luck with that. . .
I have good news, Fujiko.
As soon as we get the detonator back,
we're going to have our maiden flight!
FUJIKO
So, you're going to sell atom bombs?
LONEBACH
That's right. . .
Look at all my dear children.
Only $300,000 per bomb, $50,000 for each detonator.
As long as we have the Albatross,
we can manufacture as many as our buyers want.
Wherever our buyers are, we can fly to them. . .
what fantastic service!
FUJIKO
What are you going to do with me?
LONEBACH
Once I'm rich, I'll buy you a bridal gown and make you my first wife.
Well, duty calls. . .
so excuse me.
Next morning, on the lake
JIGEN
I don't like this.
It must be a trap.
LUPIN
What else can I do?
Can I leave Fujiko naked?
JIGEN
And. . .
Goemon won't help us while she is.
The two boats approach each other
LUPIN
I brought the detonator.
LONEBACH
The real one?
LUPIN
A thief never lies.
Where's Fujiko?
LONEBACH
In the cabin.
LUPIN
Fujiko, I've got some clothes for you!
OK, move us closer.
LONEBACH
Drop it in the net on the count of three, please.
LUPIN
Fujiko, jump over on the count of three.
Let's go.
LONEBACH
One. . .
LUPIN
Two. . .
ZENIGATA
Three!
LUPIN
What?
A horde of cops leap out and pile onto Lupin and Jigen
LUPIN
We're gonna sink!
ZENIGATA
(laughs)
(To Lonebach)
Thank you for your cooperation.
LONEBACH
Let me thank you, too.
LUPIN
What's this, Zenigata?
The public servant helps the criminal!
That man is holding an atomic detonator!
ZENIGATA
What ?
LONEBACH
Despite its special shape, this is indeed a spark plug,
for the Albatross's engine. . .
the only such one in the world.
ZENIGATA
(to Lupin)
Don't make up such clumsy lies!
Everyone knows atom bombs are huge, like this.
LUPIN
You've got your grandfather's notions of technology!
Can't you see he's holding Fujiko hostage?
ZENIGATA
You sink even lower, Lupin.
I got her overseas call in Japan.
She was crying and wanted to leave you.
LUPIN
The man talks so smooth, that I can almost believe it...
ZENIGATA
Good-bye, Doctor.
Best of luck for your maiden flight.
LONEBACH
Thank you.
Mr. Lupin, take good care of yourself.
The cops throw Lupin and Jigen into Zenigata's paddy wagon.
LUPIN
``This side up'', you idiot!
ZENIGATA
I'm already tired from chasing you around, so let's finish up now.
Strip them!
LUPIN
Cossacks!
ZENIGATA
Their stuff's hidden well so take everything.
(The cops hand him Lupin's shorts and Jigen's hat)
My samurai's mercy.
Give them back.
(He bends down to grab Lupin's foot)
I'll finish up myself.
LUPIN
Old Man, is that big plane really going up?
ZENIGATA
(emptying Lupin's false foot)
Its challenge is to fly across the Mediterranean Sea.
LUPIN
A-ha, he said that plug was for the Albatross's. . .
(Zenigata grabs Lupin's hair)
Let go!
ZENIGATA
Ah, here we are.
(The hair comes off and starts to smoke)
LUPIN
You shouldn't have done that!
The false hair explodes.
Lupin and Jigen race out.
ZENIGATA
Stop them!
LUPIN
Goemon, take care of them!
ZENIGATA
Halt!
Zenigata and the cops fall into the water
GOEMON
(to Lupin)
Go.
LUPIN
We can't let that monster fly!
The Albatross comes out of its hangar and starts to take off.
LUPIN
There it is!
Get as close as you can!
(He tries to leap onto the plane)
Damn you, don't take off!
Shit, let's head back to the museum!
JIGEN
OK.
They crash into the Air Museum
LUPIN
Find one that will fly!
(Jigen falls through one plane.
Lupin finds another)
Jigen, I've got it!
Start it up.
(Sounds of police sirens)
ZENIGATA
Lupin!
LUPIN
He never gives up!
ZENIGATA
(leaps onto plane)
You're not getting away!
(Lupin takes off)
I've got you now!
LUPIN
So hold on tight!
(He banks upwards)
On board the Albatross
LONEBACH
What do you think of my plane and hospitality?
The old style's more fun.
FUJIKO
I agree, but I'd enjoy it even more without this.
LONEBACH
No, keep it on.
It really agrees with you.
Cheers!
FUJIKO
Lupin will never give up.
LONEBACH
Well then, it looks like this time I've got no choice but to kill him.
(A bell pings on the intercom)
Well, he's here already.
VOICE
Doctor, come to the cockpit, please.
LONEBACH
Excuse me.
FUJIKO
(looking out window)
Lupin. . .
In the Albatross's cockpit
SCHMIDT
It's Lupin!
LONEBACH
I know!
Take care of him immediately!
On Lupin's plane
ZENIGATA
What?
A private plane with those weapons. . .
LUPIN
See, I told you.
Now they've shown their true colors.
The Albatross crew launch a missile at Lupin.
He takes evasive action.
LUPIN
Shit, it's a flying fortress!
Jigen starts to fire on the missiles with a Colt .45.
ZENIGATA
Hey, that's mine!
When did you take it?
JIGEN
Another clip.
ZENIGATA
I don't have any more!
LONEBACH
Don't let them get close!
Fire!
Lupin moves in close to wave to Fujiko, and subsequently gets winged
FUJIKO
Lupin!
SCHMIDT
We did it!
LONEBACH
It's just leaking fuel.
Give them the coup de grace.
SCHMIDT
Yes, sir.
A goon comes into Fujiko's chamber
GOON
Doctor's orders: Get back to your room.
FUJIKO
No, I won't.
GOON
What?
Stand up!
FUJIKO
Can you carry me?
GOON
You bitch!
Fujiko knocks him out, frees herself,
and goes on a rampage through the ship.
Then she takes off her skirt to signal to Lupin.
LUPIN
Hey, that's Fujiko!
She flagged the gunner!
LONEBACH
Lupin's getting close!
(His crew flee from Fujiko)
What are they doing back thee?
Schmidt, where are you going?
Fujiko rains a hail of bullets on them.
LONEBACH
Fujiko, I'm sorry!
SCHMIDT
If we don't do something, she'll destroy the plane!
LONEBACH
I know!
So she can't be my first wife.
Come on!
(They depart)
LUPIN
(lowering the plane to Fujiko)
Fujiko, grab on!
Schmidt stops her with a burst of gunfire.
LONEBACH
Fire!
Don't let them any closer!
SCHMIDT
Yes, Doctor. . .
(Lonebach picks up a grenade)
Doctor, what are you doing?
LONEBACH
I'm going to punish her.
SCHMIDT
You're not serious!
LONEBACH
This has a reduced charge - it'll just smoke her out.
No harm to the plane.
(Fujiko throws the grenade back. . .
Boom.
SCHMIDT
True German workmanship!
LONEBACH
It works so well. . .
Oh no, my third engine. . .
(The middle engine flies off)
Woman, you. . .
take this!
This will destroy a tank!
Fujiko fires and scatters his grenade.
The explosions strip away the skin of the left wing.
LONEBACH
My plant!
LUPIN
Look at the inside of that wing.
JIGEN
It's filled with sophisticated machinery. . .
ZENIGATA
Lupin, what is it?
LUPIN
An automatic A-bomb factory.
ZENIGATA
What are you going to do?
LUPIN
Finish them off.
We're almost out of fuel.
(He dive-bombs the Albatross,
shearing off their second and fourth engines, then swoops up.)
Ha!
(His wings fall off)
Oh, my God!
(Lupin's plane drops into the Albatross.
Inside, the crew struggles with the plane)
PILOT
We're out of control!
SCHMIDT
What shall we do!
LONEBACH
I don't care!
Go if you want!
(The crew bails out)
SCHMIDT
Good idea!
Inside the Albatross,
everyone is jumbled in the wreckage of Lupin's plane.
LUPIN
Fujiko, Fujiko. . .
FUJIKO
Lupin. . .?
This is no time to act romantic!
Lupin and the others examine the plane.
ZENIGATA
Nobody's here.
JIGEN
(looking out)
The situation's bad!
We're dropping quickly.
LUPIN
Leave it to me.
In this plane, we can land anywhere on the water.
ZENIGATA
Lupin, look below!
FUJIKO
There isn't any water under us!
LUPIN
It sure looks that way.
ZENIGATA
Lupin, I'll wait to arrest you.
Try a crash-landing.
FUJIKO
Did you forget we're carrying an atomic cargo?
What if the bombs go off from the shock?
We're going to crash!
(A mountain looms ahead)
LUPIN
No, we won't!
Throw everything out!
Hurry!
(They scurry to dump everything out the door.
Alpine climbers are almost crushed by falling appliances.)
FUJIKO
(carrying a kitchen sink)
There's nothing else we can throw out!
(Zenigata and Jigen peel back the wall,
to reveal Lonebach grabbing A-bombs.)
ZENIGATA
Doctor!
JIGEN
You're still here?
LONEBACH
Any closer, and I'll explode this.
FUJIKO
That's the bomb!
LONEBACH
Calm down, or I might just have to detonate this.
These are my children, and I'm not letting you have them.
Excuse me. . .
(He runs for the door)
ZENIGATA
(Grabbing onto him)
No, you don't!
(They fall to Earth together)
JIGEN
Zenigata!
ZENIGATA
You can't fool me!
There's no such thing as a miniature A-bomb!
LONEBACH
I tell you, it's real!
ZENIGATA
Prove it!
Blow us up!
LONEBACH
I won't go that far!
In the cockpit of the Albatross
LUPIN
We did it.
We've reached the water.
JIGEN
We're OK now.
FUJIKO
(Throws arms around him)
Lupin!
He picks a piece of paper out of her hair, holding it away from her.
